Teacher Development Academy

This spring, the Teacher Development Academy at Â鶹´«Ã½ (TDA@Â鶹´«Ã½) will assist teachers in earning the Reaching and Teaching All Learners micro credential and graduate certificate. Through a special GEER-funded grant from the Â鶹´«Ã½ Regents for Higher Education, the following courses can be taken at no cost to emergency and alternative certified teachers—that’s right, for FREE! There will be no costs to teachers who enroll in AND COMPLETE this 9-hour certificate program this spring. Each of these courses will count toward OSDE certification coursework requirements.

GRED 5113 Teaching Diverse Learners
GRED 6323 Teaching Methods Across the Curriculum (Pedagogy)
GRED 6523 Classroom Management and Collaboration

The Spring 2025 Cohort will meet Wednesday evenings, 5:00-10:00 PM, beginning Jan. 8 through April 30 AND over three fast-track weekends: Feb. 7-9, March 7-9 and April 4-6. The fast-track class will meet 5 to 9 p.m. Fridays, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays, and noon to 3 p.m. Sundays. There is no virtual option. Attendance is required at all Â鶹´«Ã½ and course grades are impacted by absences. At the end of the spring semester, teachers will earn both the micro credential and 9 graduate hours of credit.

All Â鶹´«Ã½ will meet in person at Â鶹´«Ã½ in the Petree College of Arts & Sciences in Â鶹´«Ã½ City. 

Instructions for emergency or alternative certified teachers who are interested in participating:

 Apply for Admission to Â鶹´«Ã½:

  • Go to 
  • Select ‘graduate’ as your student type.
  • Select ‘Graduate Certificate in Reaching and Teaching All Learners’ as your program
  • Select ‘Spring 2025’ as your term
  • List every college/university attended in the academic history section.
  • Use the fee waiver code Â鶹´«Ã½GRAD25  (code is case sensitive) to waive the $60 application fee
  • Order official transcripts from each university you have attended (even if you didn't earn a degree there).
    • Please note:  Official transcripts can be ordered through Parchment, National Clearinghouse, or by mail. If using electronic transcripts, please select Â鶹´«Ã½ City University or [email protected] as the recipient. If you are mailing transcripts, please use the address below.

Once you have been admitted, you will be enrolled in the three courses. Only the first 90 eligible teachers will be admitted to the Teacher Development Academy at Â鶹´«Ã½ this spring, so you are encouraged to apply for and complete the admissions process as soon as possible. Enrollment for the spring cohort will close Nov. 29, 2024.

What courses are included in the Teacher Development Academy?

The TDA@Â鶹´«Ã½ will include 3 three-hour graduate-level courses, GRED 5113 Teaching Diverse Learners, GRED 6523 Classroom Management and Collaboration, and GRED 6323 Teaching Methods Across the Curriculum.

What if I only need one of the courses offered?

The TDA@Â鶹´«Ã½ will be integrating the three courses within the program, so you must enroll in all three courses to receive the scholarship.

How many hours of "seat time" will the TDA@Â鶹´«Ã½ offer?

TDA@Â鶹´«Ã½ will include 135 hours of seat time.

What if I need to miss a day of the program?

We understand that schedules offer challenges but expect program participants to be present for all Â鶹´«Ã½. Any absences will have a negative impact on your final grade. If an emergency arises and you must miss all or part of a day, you will be provided a make-up assignment.

Where will the program be held?

All Â鶹´«Ã½ will meet in person at Â鶹´«Ã½ in the Petree College of Arts & Sciences in Â鶹´«Ã½ City.

Do I need to enroll at Â鶹´«Ã½ to participate?

Yes, all participants of TDA@Â鶹´«Ã½ will enroll as a graduate student.

What will I need to enroll?

You will need a copy of your official college transcript(s) from all universities you previously attended.
