Biography
Dr. Joe Thompson, associate professor of Arts Management, holds a Bachelor of Arts in Speech/Theatre from Southwestern Â鶹´«Ã½ State University, a Master of Arts in General Theatre from Texas Tech University, and a Ph.D. in Fine Arts from Texas Tech University. He currently teaches Production 1, 2, and 3.
Dr. Thompson began his teaching career in 1984 serving as Technical Director/Designer and Director of the Fine Arts Center at Southwestern Â鶹´«Ã½ State University. Thompson became the Lighting and Sound Instructor at Texas Tech University in 1994. In 2009, he became Associate Professor of Scenic Technology at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
Thompson was an active member of the Southwest Theatre Association serving as Vice-President of Development, Chairperson of the Division of Design and Technology, Nominations Committee, and Audition Committee.
Thompson has served as designer/technical director for more than 300 productions during his forty-year career.
