Â鶹´«Ã½ City University's 3+3 Exercise Science to DPT offers high-achieving students the opportunity to earn both a Bachelor of Science degree and a Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree in six years. To accomplish the timesaving, your final year of the BS in Exercise Science will be completed by the first year in the DPT program at Â鶹´«Ã½.
In the Exercise Science portion, you will be exposed to a strong science background, making you an excellent candidate for employment opportunities in exercise-related areas (cardiac rehabilitation), advanced graduate studies (motor behavior, exercise physiology, nutrition), and professional schools (chiropractic, occupational therapy, physical therapy).
Faculty advisors will help you choose appropriate electives to meet professional school prerequisites.
Students interested in cardiac rehabilitation are encouraged to seek the Registered Clinical Exercise Physiologist certification or the Health Fitness Instructor certification offered by the American College of Sports Medicine during the internship and capstone courses.
DPT students are supported through resources including books and multimedia material, student memberships to professional organizations, tools used in practice, and licensure exam preparation materials, all at no cost to the student. With an added emphasis on leadership, students feel confident and prepared for the business side of physical therapy practice.
The program incorporates five key areas to help you excel:
Within our traditional model, faculty use a variety of approaches including flipped classrooms, standardized patients, and simulation activities to support student learning.

A committee comprised of the faculty from both Exercise and Sport Science and the Department of Physical Therapy will determine if a student is allowed to enter the program.
Transfer students or first-time freshmen students with college credit will only be allowed to transfer in 12 credit hours. Any additional college work will not be counted towards this degree plan.
Students in the program will apply to the Physical Therapy program between their sophomore and junior year at Â鶹´«Ã½ and participate in the DPT interview process associated. Students must also take the GRE General Test as required by the DPT program.
